2013 Shot For The Cure Results!

To all players, referees, coaches and families who participated in our first annual Shot For The  Cure tournament! I hope everyone had as much fun as I did! We hope to see everyone next year!!   

This tournament was the idea of FC Sonora Venom player Kayla Heath! She is a type 1 diabetic. She has participated a number of times, in the past, in a tournament in Phoenix to raise money for breast cancer research , and wondered why we didn’t have a tournament to help raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, who gives .87 of every dollar, to help find a cure for this awful disease! So she drew a logo, and approached me to see if we could start a tournament. I spoke with Chris Cox, the president of FC Sonora, and he was instrumental in making this a reality! Today, we are on the verge of finding a cure. Wouldn’t it be awesome if some of the money from this tournament made the difference in finding a cure?
